ABOUT ME

Hi, My name is Aripirala Praveen and I am a designer specializing in web design, graphic design and user interface design. I was (still am, and will always be!) always partial to my creative side and I grew up under the magic spell of graphic novels, illustrations, cartoons, crayons, color pencils, playing assorted musical instruments and anything and everything that could be labeled ‘creative’. Even now my imagination is still rooted to the child in me who always keep me going, keeps me excited and makes me fall in love with what I do every single day. As a child, I never seriously considered making a career out of what I love doing. But the creative industry has allowed me to translate my vivid imagination into something substantial. So here I am, a grown up man, spending most of his time conjuring websites, logos, posters, information architectures, user interfaces, competitve analysis, usability testing, moodboards, graphics, sketching and painting, for over 10 years! I do look forward to many more years of sweet labour!

I was born just a day after the new year, so I was as new as the new year J I come from a family of creative people and owe a lot to them – genes included – for my creative side. Everybody in my family were artists in thought and the way they lead their lives. My father, a fine artist and a sculptor, has been my first mentor and inspiration. It was fun growing up amongst such people as there was so much to absorb, grasp and learn. As a child, I was mostly busy making a hut for the garden, building an aquarium, sketching and creating wax models, making detailed, scale models of cycles to working on science projects.

As I was good at sketching, biology became my favorite subject - it gave me an opportunity to sketch complex diagrams. Most of my classmates would get their diagrams done by me and I would take bubble gums in return :-). In time, I grew up from my ‘bubblegummer’ years to a six-footer. I tried to get into one of the MBA schools and started preparing for the entrance exams. Everyday I slogged at the wheel, I realized my heart was not set on an MBA, I needed to make a choice. After much thought, I put those fat books aside and walked straight into an animation and design institute. I spent a year there learning the necessary skills and tools I needed to learn and also joined drawing classes as I required professional help and guidance to nurture the raw artist in me.

It was the September of 2002 when I got my first job offer. I still remember the first day of work and those anxious moments as I entered the office! But, hey, I don’t intend to tell you my story in such detail; I’d rather write a book! So please go through my site and some of the designs and illustrations I have worked on. I would also love to hear what you have to say, so please shoot me an email at 'aripirala.praveen@gmail.com' or call me on '+91 9949655561' to get in touch. Cheerio!
